![]() This is the most I’ve been paid ever, but considering how long I’ve been in the biz, I wish it was more. Female.Įarning €60k now including holiday pay (a Dutch thing) and 38 annual leave days a year which I think is very nice. I’m in the Netherlands but head office is in Switzerland.ġ7 years in the industry, starting in finished art with a prepress apprenticeship in Australia. I’m Senior Graphic Designer for the global brand team. Public listed company related to science and food/ingredient tech. $100+ : designers with a high level of skill and experience (often with industry-specific knowledge) $50 - $100 : designer with more experience with a broad range of skills (developing strategy vs solely design) $30 - $50 : designer with several years of experience “how much should I charge as a freelancer” - here were the numbers given (as repeat for anyone looking for help on what to charge) There was a really great post in the group. Plus the experience was great, and priceless. So I know this could be low compared to most in this group with much more experience - I think what I was paid was really generous honestly, I was/am more than happy. I was/am a full-time student, business owner, and have (now) roughly 3 years of experience. For example a client wanted 10 apparel designs, I charged $500 (50 per design) hourly pay, especially as I began to work faster. My rate at that time was $25 hour (I said I would do it for free with a smile, I really just wanted to gain experience, but this is where they hit me upside the head and said shut up)Īs I continued I found the value in project-based pay vs. Not many are lucky in this sense!! So pay transparency is great and I think it is really important for budding designers looking to pursue a freelance track. I was lucky and knew my first client, who really helped lead the way and teach me these things, answer those questions, or hit me upside the head when I was undervaluing my work. I think the biggest challenge for me during my time freelancing (graphic design) was knowing what to charge, what my time was worth, and if I was over/undervaluing myself. ![]() Join our Discord server Design Subreddits LIST Please report any posts which break these rules, to maintain the quality of the subreddit.
